Hazel Pollen on March 14th, 2010
Hazel pollen can take on different shapes depending on conditions. Only very fresh pollen grains are almost perfectly spherical. Taken indoors, they start to dry out very quickly, shrink and show edges. A water-alcohol solution will inflate the grains and show their internal structure.
