120° Parhelion on February 16th, 2009
Trier seems a good place for viewing single 120° parhelia! Practically no other halos could be seen when one of them occured on the early afternoon of February 15th, 2009, with the exception of a small fragment of the parhelic circle. There had been traces of a very poor 22° halo in the morning - coming back a few hours later with equally poor parhelia. The 120° parhelion was bright enough to produce a reddish diffraction fringe in the cirrus where it occured. Nikon D80, processed with Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0.
