Halo Display on March 18th, 2009
On March 18th, 2009, a spectacular halo display could be seen at Trier. It comprised: 1) a 22° halo, 2) a circumscribed halo ,3) both parhelia, 4) both 120° parhelia, 5) the complete parhelic circle, 6) infralateral acrs, 7) a supralateral arc and / or 46° halo, 8) a Parry arc, 9) an almost complete Wegener arc. I have never been able to spot the latter in Trier before. Three was also an unusual elliptical brightending around the sun and hints of a halo with a small diameter, possibly elliptical. The display could not only be seen all over the Trier region, but also in southern Germany, France and Switzerland. The analysis and processing of the large amount of images taking time, I can only post a few shots for now. Stay tuned for more!

Parhelic circle and Wegener arc crossing the former. Canon Powershot S80, processed with Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0.
